Scouting has a rich legacy of promoting safe and fun shooting sports skills and knowledge. To keep this tradition alive, Scouts need access to safe and responsible shooting sports programs, well-maintained equipment, ranges, and qualified staff and volunteers. Help support our shooting sports program through the Range and Target Legacy Pillar.

Support and Protect Target Sports
Range and Target sports in Scouting are about more than hitting the target—they’re about precision, patience, and personal responsibility. The Range and Target Legacy Fund supports the facilities, equipment, and staff that keep this tradition alive and safe. Every session on the range builds character as much as skill.
Our region’s unique climate presents serious challenges to maintaining outdoor ranges. The 2022 collapse of a key range due to historic snowfall highlighted the urgent need for sustainable infrastructure and emergency recovery funding. This pillar exists to future-proof our shooting sports programs, ensuring they’re ready for whatever challenges nature throws our way.
Scouts who engage in target sports develop a strong sense of control, respect, and discipline. By supporting this fund, donors ensure that future generations can experience the confidence that comes from focused practice in a safe and structured environment.
Outdoor adventure develops more than outdoor skills. It teaches problem-solving, perseverance, and teamwork in a way no classroom can. Whether it’s a weekend campout or a week-long trek, each experience helps youth grow in confidence and resilience.
By supporting this fund, donors aren’t just underwriting a trip—they’re unlocking a lifetime of memories, mentorship, and growth. Every dollar gives a Scout access to the natural world and the life lessons that come with it.
