SVMBC Endowment Fund

Fueling Adventure, Character, and Leadership

What is the Endowment?

The Endowment Fund of the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council ensures that Scouting will thrive in our communities for generations to come. Unlike annual fundraising campaigns that support immediate program needs, endowment gifts provide permanent, sustainable funding for the long-term health and growth of our council. These gifts are invested, and the earnings are used each year to support critical initiatives, preserve camp properties, and ensure access to Scouting for all youth—regardless of their background or financial situation.

Through the generosity of our donors, we are building a foundation that supports everything from camp improvements and outdoor adventures to diversity outreach and leadership development. Each donation can be directed toward one of our nine strategic funding pillars, empowering supporters to align their impact with the areas of Scouting they care about most. Whether you’re passionate about forest conservation, expanding access for underserved youth, or supporting female leadership, your gift creates a legacy of opportunity.

By investing in the endowment, you are helping us prepare for the future while honoring the values that make Scouting a transformative experience. Your support ensures that today’s Scouts—and tomorrow’s—will continue to benefit from safe facilities, outstanding programs, and inspiring leadership. Join us in shaping the future of Scouting, one meaningful gift at a time.

The Endowment Pillars

Building the Future of Scouting—Together

At Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to experience the life-changing impact of Scouting. That’s why our endowment pillars were created—to secure the future of Scouting by funding the programs, people, and places that make our mission thrive.

Each pillar represents a lasting investment in an area of Scouting that needs long-term support—from preserving our pristine camp environments, to expanding outdoor adventures, to ensuring inclusivity and access for every youth. These funds are more than donations—they’re commitments to values we share: leadership, equity, conservation, and character development.

Whether you care most about advancing female leadership, making Scouting more inclusive for those with special needs, or protecting the wilderness where Scouts grow, there’s a pillar that aligns with your passion. Explore each one and discover how your gift becomes a permanent legacy for generations of Scouts to come.

How to I contribute?

Supporting the SVMBC Endowment is one of the most powerful ways you can make a lasting impact on the future of Scouting. Your contribution becomes a permanent investment—ensuring that camp programs, outreach efforts, staff development, and facility improvements continue to thrive for generations to come. Whether you’re honoring a loved one, leaving a legacy, or advancing a cause you care about, your gift helps secure the future of Scouting across our council.

Ways to Give

You can support the Endowment in a variety of ways, each with flexible options for how your gift is applied:

  • Outright Gifts: Make a one-time or recurring gift of cash, stock, or other appreciated assets.

  • Estate & Planned Giving: Include Scouting in your will or trust, or name the council as a beneficiary of your retirement or life insurance plan.

  • Donor-Advised Funds & Foundations: Recommend a gift through your DAF or family foundation.

  • Real Estate or Property Donations: Gift land, homes, or other property in support of specific endowment goals.

  • Tribute & Memorial Gifts: Make a gift in honor or memory of a Scout, leader, or loved one.

  • Employer Matching: Double your impact with a corporate match—check with your HR department to learn if your employer participates.

Contribution Recognition Levels

Your generosity is recognized through our donor societies, each celebrating your commitment to Scouting’s future:

  • James E. West Fellowship – $1,000 or more (cash or equivalent gift to endowment)

  • Heritage Society – Planned/estate gift commitment of any amount

  • President’s Circle – $10,000 or more cumulative giving

  • Named Endowment Fund – $25,000 or more (restricted or unrestricted)

Each level includes recognition in our annual report and may include additional honors such as commemorative certificates, pins, or inclusion on donor walls or legacy scrolls at council events.

“Like the bridge builder who crossed the chasm and turned back to build a path for others, we give to Scouting’s endowment not for ourselves, but for the generations of youth yet to begin their journey.”
