To train and certify Scouting America climbing instructors. The Scouting America requires two certified Scouting America climbing instructors for units to hold their own climbing events, one who needs to be a Level II instructor. The second instructor can be a Level II or can also be a Level I instructor. A Level I certification is a great starting point for someone new to climbing who would like to eventually attain Level II. It is also available adults 18 and older . Scouts 16-17 can take the course and qualify for Climbing Instructor In Training Certification. Both Level I and CIIT are valid for 1 year from course date.
This course provides training for people who are interested in teaching Scouts how to climb and rappel at the Unit, District or Council level. This group might include those interested in becoming Climbing Merit Badge Counselors, Council Climbing event support, natural rock outings. Level I certification or equiv is a requirement to take Level II training
