BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation)
March 26, 2022 @ 8:00 am - March 28, 2022 @ 11:00 am$50
BALOO is a 2 day training course that teaches leaders skills needed to carry out a Pack successful family/Den campout. BALOO training is required for at least one adult leader of a Pack to do overnight camping as a part of the Pack’s activities.
At least one adult who has completed this course must be in attendance at any Pack or Den overnight activity. This course has two parts. The first is available online and the second part is the outdoor experience (this class).
The online component must be completed before attending the outdoor part of Baloo training.
The online portion is available through the BSA Learn Center (my.scouting.org). Log onto my.scouting.org and select the BSA Learn Center image on the right side of the home page. On the training page the Baloo training can be found under the “Expanded Learning” heading. Then select “Baloo” to start the online training.
Alternatively, on my.scouting.org select the BSA logo on the left top of the home page and select “My Dashboard”. Then select “Training Center” at the upper middle of page. Select “Expanded Learning” at the bottom of the list to get to the Baloo training.
The outdoor portion of the training will be held on:
Saturday March 26th and Sunday March 27th 2022 at Camp Chesebrough. Check-in is at 8:00 AM on Saturday. Instruction will finish by 11:00 AM on Sunday.
Early arrival is available for Friday night for a $5 fee to cover Saturday’s breakfast. No program or training will be offered on Friday.
This training includes an overnight camping experience. Come prepared to camp and to be outside. (Cold weather and rain are common this time of year.) All of this training will be held outdoors. The training will include instruction on camp setup, cooking, sanitation, camping equipment selection, knife safety, fire safety, and using wood tools safely.
All meals will be provided: Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, Saturday crackerbarrel, and Sunday breakfast
Questions: Contact Bob Varrelman at email@example.com
Registration cost includes meals and handout materials.
- For all overnight council and district events everyone 6 years old or older must be vaccinated or produced a negative lab-based PCR covid test result within 96 hours. We recommend scheduling the test for Wednesday to ensure enough time to receive your results. Children 5 or younger do not need to test.
- Masks will be required at all times indoors and masks will be required outdoors when social distancing of 6 feet between members of different households is not possible. This will be required of everyone regardless of vaccination status. Please bring a supply of clean masks with you. Children under 2 are not required to wear masks.
We will screen you for symptoms when you arrive and you will be asked to leave if you are symptomatic. We ask that anyone feeling sick does not attend the training and contacts our office.
