Checking Your Training “Temperature” for Leadership Health

We all know how to check our temperature for the health and safety of ourselves and the people who surround us.  Now it’s time to check your Leadership Health for yourself and the scouts with whom you work.  Ask yourself these questions during your self-check-up:

 

How do I know if I’m strong and safe to be a leader?
What is my healthy training temperature?

You are in the HEALTHY Trained zone if you’ve completed:

 
I’m a registered Leader in Cub Scouts

  • Youth Protection Training YPT, online, expires every two years
  • Hazardous Weather, online, expires every two years
  • Den Leaders: Den Leader Specific Training, online, never expires
  • Cubmaster: Cubmaster Specific Training, online, never expires
  • Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO), in person, never expires – required by one person on a Pack overnighter but is not required to be “trained”

 
I’m a registered Leader in Scouts BSA

  • Youth Protection Training YPT, online, expires every two years
  • Hazardous Weather, online, expires every two years
  • Scoutmaster: Scoutmaster Specific Training, online, never expires
  • Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS), in person, never expires

 
I’m a registered Leader in Venturing

  • Youth Protection Training YPT, online, expires every two years
  • Hazardous Weather, online, expires every two years
  • Venturing Leader Specific Training, online, never expires

 
I’m a registered Leader as a Committee Chair or Member

  • Youth Protection Training YPT, online, expires every two years
  • Unit Committee Training for your specific program, online, never expires
