EVENTS AT HOME

Virtual “Scouts Got Talent” Campfire program – aired Saturday, May 9th at 4:00 PM

We had a fun campfire on May 9th. Thank you to the Scouts who submitted content via video and to our hosts:
MC: James Rahn, Assistants Finn Doyle and Saurav Gandhi; Adult advisor: Dan Krent and staff advisor Jeff Lindenmuth.

We are doing another one in July. If you are interested in being on the planning team, please email Anthony Pulliam
Throughout the month of June, we are challenging all participants to “Get Out and Scout!” by completing the set of activities we have listed for their age group below. Each week’s set of activities ties to advancement for their age and encourages them to get outside. At the end of the challenge, we will be capping off the activity with a council-wide campfire hosted by local scouts and scouters!

All participants will also be given the opportunity to earn a patch that can be purchased and mailed to them at the end of the challenge. (Stay tuned on Social Media for the patch design and order announcements later in June!)

Scouting can happen anywhere, and a lot can happen in your own home! At times when families are together for extended periods, conducting Scouting activities is a great option for parents to discover new ways to connect with and learn with their kids.

Follow along here and on our social media channels using the #Scoutingathome #SVMBC hashtags to get and share ideas for Scouting in a virtual and home environment.

Before starting any online activity, be sure to review the Cyber Chip requirements with your Scout and observe youth protection and online safety guidelines at all times.

Here you will find a resource hub for parents and leaders to help support Scouting at home, with stay-at-home educational activities for any Scout rank, tips for continuing to work on advancements and kid-friendly content that connects Scouting with their daily lives. We will continue to add new content and resources to this hub regularly.

Our goal is to make it easier to deliver the Scouting program by making plans more accessible to leaders and those who can help leaders like our parents.

The pinewood derby is often the highlight event of the year for the Cubs in your pack. As with most things, we know that your pack’s program plans have probably changed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but given a little planning and creativity, the event your Cubs look forward to all year can still happen

To help you plan your event, we have created some guidance to help you plan a safe event, whether it is 100% virtual or a hybrid. To get started on planning your derby, please download your how to guide below.
